PCT-8363
The PCT-8363 PCI Express card is determined especially for both position sensor with quadrature signals (thanks to widely configurable input signal encoders are inteded for use in many other applications though) and for position sensor using the SSI interface.
The PCT-8363 provides three 32-bit counters that allow unidirectional and bidirectional counting with configurable length. Counters are connected to the encoders, which are programmable to a wide variety of modes.
Moreover, the card provides six independently configurable SSI master interfaces (with the exception of transmission frequency and period) for processing data from a wide range of sensors.
The card also provides three 8-bit bidirectional digital ports, software configurable as input or output. Moreover, the power-up configuration of DIO ports can be easily modified by the software utility and stored into onboard EEPROM memory.
The card includes IRQ logic with interrupt sources derived not only from the internal timer, but from rising or falling edge of each digital port signal (i.e. 48 individually programmable interrupt sources).
The PCT-8363 card is based on a FPGA unified core providing implementation of PCI Express bus and all peripheral circuitry, e.g. solution that gives maximum control and supervision over full functionality. High concentration of control algorithms within FPGA allows to add or modify functions without redesign the board.
All DAQ PCI Express cards are equipped CardID - two segment DIP switch that allows to recognise up to 4 cards (especially when installing multiple cards of the same type).
Key features of encoders & counters
- RS-422/TTL counter inputs with ESD surge protection and isolated
- six counter encoders programmable into a variety of modes
quadrature X1, X2 and X4 (two signals for phases, one signal for reset)
"up/down" (three signals for incrementation, decrementation and reset)
"count/dir" (three signals pulse for counting, count direction and reset)
"count/gate" (three signals for incrementation, counter blocking and the reset) - six 32-bit counters that allow unidirectional and bidirectional counting with configurable length
- detectors of the minimum and maximum values of counters
- all values (or the selected only) mentioned above can be captured simultaneously
Key features of SSI interfaces
- six data signal inputs isolated separately in recommended topology
- six CLK signal outputs isolated as a whole block
- CLK signals frequency configurable up to 1MHz (together for all six interfaces)
- data length configurable independently for each interface
- data code (binary or Gray) configurable independently for each interface
- cyclic readout with a configurable period (together for all six interfaces)
- capture registers ensure reading of SSI values without delays
- synchronous data processing of all SSI channels
Standard and low-profile version
The cards are supplied in two versions - standard as PCT-8363 and as PCT-8363/LP. Except for the different I/O connectors (see the following paragraphs), all other features of both versions are identical.
In the case of a standard version, isolated inputs for three counters are accessible via the D-Sub 25 connector, first digital port via the D-Sub 9 connector then (PCE-8019 cable); both of them are located on the card mounting bracket. Six isolated SSI interfaces are accessible via the PCE-8363 adaptor (included), using the card mounting bracket with one D-Sub 25 connector and spare D-Sub 9 connector. Next two digital ports are accessible via the PCE-16xx series adaptor (not included), using the card mounting bracket with two D-Sub 25 or D-Sub 9 connectors.
In the case of a low-profile version, isolated inputs for three inputs for three counters are accessible via the D-Sub 25 connector located on the card mounting bracket. Six isolated SSI interfaces are accessible via the PCE-8363/LP adaptor (included), using the card mounting bracket with one D-Sub 25 connector. All three digital ports are accessible via the PCE-8025/LP adaptor (not included), using the card mounting bracket with one D-Sub 25.
