PCI communication cards
With over 25 years of plug-in card design and manufacturing experience (ISA, PC/104, PCI, PCI Express), TEDIA provides a wide range of industrial communication products.
TEDIA PCI communication cards add extra COM port interfaces to the PC systems equipped with PCI bus. The cards provide RS-232, RS-422 and RS-485 interface standards in various combinations.
Selected PCI communication cards provide optical isolated ports. For more information see safety guidelines for preventing overvoltage damage.
All PCI communication cards are based on the Oxford Semiconductor controller (OX16PCI954 or OXmPCI954) that provides PCI bus interface, four efficient UARTs (16C950 standard) and parallel interface in one circuit.
Main features
- versions with/without port isolation are available
- surge arresters as option (isolated versions with connector D-Sub 9 only)
- connectors D-Sub 9 as standard, several types with connectors RJ45
- wide range of transfer rate support (controller provides programmable pre-divider in the range of 1x÷31.875x)
- transfer rates up to 15MBd (depending on the card type)
- several modes for the automatic data transfer control, including the RS-485 ADFC
Overview - second generation PCI COM cards
The cards of the second generation are suitable for use in 5V PCI bus (common 32-bit PCI bus in most PCs) and 3.3V PCI bus (usually 64-bit PCI buses or PCI-X buses at server motherboards).

Software support
Drivers for the following operating systems are available for COM PCI cards:
- Windows 10, Windows 8/8.1, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP and Windows 2000 (all 32-bit & 64-bit version)
- Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows Server 2012, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2003 (all 32-bit & 64-bit version)
- Windows Server 2016 and Windows Server 2019 are not (and will not be) supported
- Windows 95/98/Me and Windows NT4
All drivers mentioned above are available in the Download section.
Limited MS-DOS support (usually requires program modification).
The cards are supported in Linux, kernel v. 2.4 and higher. The RS-485 Flow Control is not supported by default; the support can be added by modifying the ACR register in 8250.c.
