UC-232, UC-485
Miniature isolated converters UC-232 and UC-485 are intended for expanding the number of RS-232 or RS-485 ports of the PC using the virtual COM port.
Both converters UC-232 and UC-485 provide a miniature plastic case used widely for USB flash drives. This brings ease of use at all applications where mobility is the issue, such as on-site measurements or service. The converters can be used at any computer with a USB port and a supported OS.
There were no compromises to the design - the converters are tiny, they are fitted with modern componensts circuits with high efficiency and high resistance against induced overvoltage (the RS-485 line at the UC-485 converter also provides TVS diodes - Transient Voltage Suppressor Diodes). Both converters provide the isolated line interface.
The USB interface is used also as a converter power source; no external power source is needed.
The connection of the converter serial line COM port is realized by a plug-in screw terminal block, allowing the user to easily attach the cables. Because the unit has three terminals, the UC-232 converter provides just the basic data signals - TXD and RXD.
Both converters are fitted with two LED indicators (TXD for data transmition, RXD for receive), the UC-485 converter also provides the line termination impedances (active topology with bias resistors), which can be switched on and off using the DIP switch at the bottom side of the converter.
Note: The UC-485 converter operates in a standard mode, at which the own trransmitteed data are blocked for receivg. If the echo mode is required (i.e. all data in the line are received, including the own data), please contact the TEDIA technical support.
